Their Story: a Journey of Resilience and Renewal

At Beacon of Hope NPO, we believe in the power of resilience and the transformative potential of community support. Our story begins with Rene, who inherited the orphanage home from her mother two decades ago. Together with her husband Virgil, who himself was once an orphan, they have dedicated their lives to providing a safe haven for children in need.

Recently, an incredible opportunity arose when a generous donor offered to help Rene and Virgil purchase their own home. This marked the beginning of a new chapter for Beacon of Hope, and it's where our organization stepped in to offer assistance. Engela Murray, from Coastland Properties Care Foundation, took the lead in finding the perfect property for the family. Their search led them to a house in Genadendal, near Caledon.

In partnership with Coastland Properties and Sauer Incorporated, we worked tirelessly to ensure that Rene and Virgil could acquire their new home without any additional financial burden. Thanks to their generosity, no commission was charged for the property, and Morné facilitated the registration process at no cost.

However, the journey was not without its challenges. The house they purchased was in an uninhabitable state, requiring extensive renovation. Undeterred, Virgil and Rene took it upon themselves to initiate the rebuilding process. With limited resources, they have been diligently working to restore the house to its former glory. Despite the slow progress due to financial constraints, their determination remains unwavering.
